Conservas Ferrer will present its new Red Pepper & Tomato Soup soup at the Summer Fancy Food food fair in Nova York. The manufacturer of sauces and broths will compete with this product with the main American brands such as Campbell. Ferrer has chosen the fair that takes place from June 23 to 25 to also present the new designs of the Bone Broth Chicken, Bone Broth Fish, Vegetable Broth broths.
The objective is to consolidate itself as a brand in the American market where it already has a strong presence in Texas through the distribution of its sauces and broths in the HEB supermarket chain
Currently, Conserves Ferrer is present in 35 countries around the world with specific products or others adapted to the taste of the local consumer, such as spicy potato sauce ‘bravas’ in Mexico or beet gazpacho in Holland.
The firm owned by the Ferrer family exports an 11% annual turnover of 14 million euros in 2018. The brand expects to double the foreign sale in the next three years. For this year alone, its director and third-generation member Joan Ferrer expects a 5% sales increase due to international expansion and new products. With two production centers in Santpedor and in Moraleja (Cáceres) for tomato sauce, the company employs 80 people.
To address the growth, Ferrer will increase production that leaves its Santpedor facilities and that 80% are national sales. To do this, it will be necessary to free up space from what is now destined to the warehouse and the order shipping area. With this objective, the brand -very known by the Catalan and Spanish consumer for its calçots sauce- has acquired a 7,000-square-meter warehouse in the nearby town of Sant Fruitós de Bages and transfer all the logistics, which will also allow it to expand its Santpedor manufacturing area in 3,500 square meters.
Another commitment of the company is the distribution of refrigerated products, a range of vacuum-packed products in raw that are cooked at low temperatures in their own bag, without water and with a salt point, especially vegetables and legumes. For this project, Conserves Ferrer relied on the company Soluciali, which produces its products at its center in Sant Quirze del Vallés, and from which the Ferrer family acquired 30% of the capital. “It is a segment that we want to strengthen,” explains Joan Ferrer, because it responds to a very specific and rising consumer demand that seeks fast and quality solutions to prepare their meals.”
