SeenReport – A Young and Promising Pakistani Startup !

Citizen Journalism is not something new for the Pakistani Internet Community. We have a very vibrant Blogging Community in the country in addition to growing number of Facebook and Twitter users. And sometime the News stories broke on the Internet earlier than on the Mainstream Media. SeenReport is a young Pakistani Startup founded in 2008 which is taking the citizen journalism in Pakistan to whole new level similar to Demotix except that it’s only focused on Local Pakistani community.
More Recently SeenReport closed Series A round of funding from Al-Janabi Group, a leading media investor in Middle East. The amount was not disclosed however it lists the SeenReport among a very few local startups that have secured VC funding.

Combined with the passion and expertise of SeenReport’s team in fusing traditional and new media, we will certainly achieve higher grounds.” says the CEO Sharjeel Ahmed on Official Blog.
Both Individuals and Enterprises (Media outlets) can create their own Profile on SeenReport. It provides an ideal opportunity to Share photos captured on your Mobile phone just by sending an email using your mobile phone to SeenReport in addition to uploading it from the Web.
Since it’s a young startup it does not have as many users as they should have at this point. And in my suggestion they should spend some portion of the investment in online Advertisement. Because they would need to build a user-base to generate more content to gain more attention of the average Internet user in Pakistan. The Website is not monetized yet. Even If they do I hope they don’t opt for Google Adsense, unless they have enough traffic to become premium publisher. Their could be various other business model too for this kind of startup for instance offering paid account with more enhanced features to Media outlets or other commercial entities etc.
