After remaining silent since the release of the Hulk Hogan sex tape Bubba the Love Sponge has finally commented publicly on the fiasco. Following the announcement of a lawsuit against him and his ex wife Heather Clem the Florida based shock jock ‘cut a promo’ on Hogan in a rambling, venomous tirade against the former WWE/WCW champion.
Bubba starts his tirade by suggesting that Hogan’s response to the tape was the result of his life of being catered too by ‘marks’ in his fanbase and media. He continued to impugn Hogan’s character in other ways, dragging his Nick into the tirade and making reference to his auto accident and the resulting legal imbroglio. Rambling and at times bordering on incoherence, Bubba suggested that Hogan ‘begged’ him to go on the air and support Nick continuing the suggestion that his former best friend was the type of person to take advantage of everyone.
At times, it seemed like Bubba has trying to establish a legal defense and not speaking extemporaneously. He repeatedly insisted that Hogan knew that he ‘had security cameras in the house’ and that was the source of the sex tape. Furthermore, he maintains that the incendiary post sex comments which suggested that the whole thing was a setup were made ‘within earshot’ of Hogan.
Bubba continued and issued an apology for agreeing to Hogan’s ‘sleazy request’ to have sex with his wife. This directly contradicts what Hogan said on the Howard Stern last week that Bubba and his ex wife had ‘begged him for a couple of years’ to have sex with her. Bubba then continued with a ‘laundry list’ of accusations that Hogan was in to ‘steroids, illegal drugs, strippers, illicit sex’ and to ‘ask Macho Man (Randy Savage) how that all turns out.’ Bubba complained that ‘he buried Macho Man in this town for you’ and that he’d spent years doing Hogan’s ‘dirty work’.
Bubba also spent a good bit of his 10 minute rant trying to defend his ex-wife Heather Clem who he insists is ‘the real victim’ in all of this and that if anyone gets a big payday out of the videotape that ‘she deserves it’. He then went with the OJ line claiming that the focus needs to be on finding ‘who stole this tape’. Throughout the tirade Bubba repeated that he was looking forward to getting the truth out in a deposition. Bubba called Hogan ‘scum’ and a ‘scumbag’ and claimed that ‘I’m not a fake. I’m not a fraud. You are’. He then continued with a threat that “I’ll ruin your life” and suggested that Hogan was being manipulated by his attorney. This was followed by a shot at Attorney David Houston, citing his unsuccessful representation of the producer of the ‘Girls Gone Wild’ video series.
The rant concluded with Bubba saying that Hogan ‘used his prenup (prenuptial agreement)’ before he married his current wife and that he ‘stiffed’ Bubba’s attorney. He even used Hogan’s real name (Terry Bollea) in a threat saying “I’ve only begun, Terry.”
A response from Hogan (or more likely his lawyer) will no doubt be forthcoming soon.
