Quite sometime back I wrote a post on Geek Blog with a title ‘ I am embarrassed to look at the Top 100 Sites in Pakistan ‘ It was about the 100 most popular Websites in Pakistan as ranked by Alexa, However since then the situation has improved and I did not notice any Porn Site at least in the Top 20 list there are still many Porn Websites in Top 100 list but back then there were more than couple of them in the Top 20 list.
However today another interesting point raised by fellow blogger Amir Atta at ProPakistani that Girls Mobile Numbers is one of the hottest keywords for Websites who are distributing illegally the mobile numbers of girls in Pakistan. And If you query for this keyword ‘Girls Mobile Numbers’ in Google you would notice tons of Websites claiming to have mobile numbers of girls and most of these sites unsurprisingly are from Pakistan.
These Websites gain access to the mobile numbers through various means including bribing the shopkeepers who get access to mobile numbers in order to transfer the balance to the user. Recently Ufone introduced a New service where they provide you with a code which you can give to a shopkeeper instead of your mobile number to transfer the Balance. However previously the Shopkeeper had to know your Mobile number before he can transfer the balance to your mobile number. In other cases people leaked out the Mobile numberd of Girls on the internet out of personal jealously or grudge against the victim. While I am depressed to look at this situation, at the same time I am delighted, that we now have more vigilant blogging community in Pakistan who are raising these issues time to time to make people aware of how they can become a victim of the privacy theft and how to avoid it as well as exposing the illegal websites and their tactics.
