A strong and stable internet connection is needed whenever you move to a new house or condo. Since we go online to shop, entertain ourselves, and buy essential stuff like food and clothes, you should have a wi-fi setup as soon as you arrive in your Skye at Holland unit. Here’s a short guide to get started.

Find Your House’s Center (or Closest)

This is where you should install your wi-fi router or modem for maximum coverage. Locate the nearest plug and put up a small table or counter so it won’t be knocked down. If you have a two-story house, it might be better to install the router on the first floor.

Set Up the Connection on a Device or App

Once the line is plugged into the modem and it’s turned on, it’s time to set up the wi-fi network. Using an app or a computer, open the settings and familiarize yourself with it. In the interface, you can change the wi-fi name, choose a frequency, and set the password. Change the name and proceed to the next step.

Choose the Frequency

Modern routers can have dual wi-fi channels, namely 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. 5 GHz is stronger but requires you to be close, while 2.4 GHz is great at distances but has a speed limit.

Pick a Strong Password

Protect your network and personal information by adding a password to your wi-fi network. Choose something that only you know, and don’t forget to add capital letters and special characters.

Test the Wi-Fi and Check for Dead Spots

Before you go and have fun, it’s best to check the house for any dead spots, e.g., spaces that do not have access to your wi-fi. You can adjust the router to cover these areas or invest in an extender if you have a large house.
