In communities such as condos and apartments, it’s essential to keep the noise down to a minimum. This also applies when you have pets as well. If you’ve just moved to a new condo like the Boulevard Coast and want to establish good relations with your neighbors, here are five tips to follow.

Consider Sound-Proofing Parts of Your Home

You can improve sound absorption in any room with strategic pieces, including heavy curtains, rugs, and upholstered furniture. Sound can escape through gaps in windows and doors, so pay attention to those as well. Use weatherstripping and door sweeps to seal them.

Meet Their Exercise and Energy Requirements

Pets won’t have any reason to make unnecessary noise unless they have too much pent-up energy. Take them on regular walks and bring a toy so you can play fetch or frisbee in a pet-friendly park. Designate a place in your house or condo where they can relieve themselves on their own.

Do They Have Enough Water and Food?

Pets making noise usually means they’re hungry or thirsty, and that their bowls are empty. When possible, stop what you’re doing and check on them.

Give Your Pet a Safe Spot

Fur parents should designate a ‘safe place’, or a sanctuary they can retreat to and not get disturbed. This can be in a corner in your room or a spot in the living room. Make it comfortable for them- add a soft pillow or cushion and some blankets so they can lie down and relax.

Pay Attention to What They’re Trying to Tell You

Your pet might want you to look and listen to what they’re trying to say. Look at them carefully and try to understand. Get to the root cause of the noise and fix it.
