Having a pet is a long term commitment. It requires setting up your house or condo and preparing yourself for having one. Here are some things to think about before you get a pet.

Rules and regulations

Check if your space allows you to have pets in your home or Robertson Opus condo. By associating yourself with rules and regulations, you can find out if pets are allowed. You can choose the right one, watch over your pet and clean after them properly. If there are no rules stating pets, you may have to ask for a pet fee approval from the landlord of your unit.

Can I afford having a pet?

A pet comes with costs like daily grooming, food, water, routine checkups, shots, and training. Carefully consider if you can afford all the things that come with owning a pet, and if you are ready to pay for their needs to live a long and happy life.

Why do I want one?

Answer the age old question “Why do i want one” then find the compatible pet that matches your lifestyle and your needs. Don’t act on impulse. Do you want a pet who is calm, likes hugging and is ok with not much play or do you want a pet that has high levels of energy and needs regular exercise? Take your time in discovering and researching what kind of pet you want, such as a dog with high or low energy, or a small or big one.

Can I commit?

You can’t just have a pet and abandon it after it grows old or refuses to listen to your orders. Pets require you to care for them daily, like dogs who would need most of your attention for their activities such as training and exercise, and as they grow old they will require more care. Remember that owning a pet is a long-term commitment because you have to care for it for many years.
