Troubled former child star Lindsay Lohan is set to face up to eight months in jail after her probation was revoked this morning.
It has been reported that today Lindsay’s probation was revoked in connection with a jewelry theft case she was involved in last year, the consequences of which could see her spend up to eight months behind bars.
26 year-old Lindsay did not appear in court earlier today when the judge made the decision, along with arraignment of several misdemeanors linked to a car accident in Los Angeles, in June earlier this year. After the crash Lindsay lied to police about driving recklessly, claiming it was her assistant who was behind the wheel of her Porsche when the accident occurred.
The judge, commissioner Jane Godfrey, set Lindsay’s next court date for January 15th, where the courts will decide if Lindsay did violate her probation terms. If it is decided she did violate these terms, she could face up to 245 days in jail.
Lindsay has been on probation since July 2011, after being found guilty of stealing a necklace from expensive jewelers, for which she was sentenced to 120 days in prison and 480 hours of community service.
Seemingly unable to stay out of trouble, just last month Lindsay was arrested for allegedly punching a woman in the face in a New York nightclub.
Lindsay is thought to have assaulted local psychic Tiffany Mitchell, after she saw the woman flirting with Max George, from British boy band The Wanted in the VIP section of the club. Lindsay is thought to be romantically interested in Max. After recently hitting it off with the star Lindsay joined him and his band on their tour bus last week, sparking rumors she is dating the singer after tweeting a picture of herself wearing his hoodie.
Meanwhile, Lindsay’s latest legal issues are thought to have cost her over half a million dollars, which is sure to put a dent into her bank balance given the lack of work coming her way.
Whilst Lindsay hoped her acting career would be reignited after appearing in Lifetime’s Liz & Dick, portraying the late Elizabeth Taylor, critics slammed her lack lustre performance. If anything the TV film has put the directors and producers who were interested in working with her, right off the idea.
Lindsay has however been in talks with clothing line Odaingerous, about fronting their new advertising campaign. It is thought that the company will only go ahead with hiring Lindsay if she manages to avoid a jail sentence in January.
