The holidays are packed with gatherings, fun, and festivities, and there’s no reason not to get your furry friend involved! Get your pet groomed so they’re clean, comfortable, and ready for pictures! Here are four ways to prepare your pet for Christmas.

Trim The Nails

Pets aren’t comfortable having long nails, and there’s a chance they could scratch guests and friends. Use pet-safe nail clippers that are sharp, and just trim small bits at a time to avoid injuring your pet. Don’t cut them too short either. Reward with a treat and plenty of belly rubs when they behave the whole time.

Bathe Your Pet

Bathing your pet removes any dirt they have from their body and fur. Rinse thoroughly to minimize itchiness- you can avoid dryness by using lukewarm water and selecting shampoos that are specially made for pets. After bathing, you have to dry them completely because pets that have damp fur are prone to getting skin infections.

Go for a General Checkup

Before the holidays and going out of your Vela One home, complete a general check-up on your pet. Pay attention to dental care- brush their teeth to avoid bad breath or give them dental chews that are veterinarian-approved. Wipe away discharge and stains from their eyes using a damp and soft cloth, so they can see clearly and look neat. Lastly, clean their ears if they smell or if you see dirt.

Brush Their Fur

Brushing your pet regularly makes them look presentable and can help avoid matted fur, which could harm the pet because it pulls on their skin. There are different ways to brush different types of coats, like short coats needing to be brushed once or twice a week, medium coats every other day, and curly and long coats needing a daily brush.
