Last week 14 year old Malala Yousufzai was shot by Muslim terrorists in Pakistan. She wasn’t an innocent bystander or collateral damage in the Talliban’s depraved war against humanity. She was the target of an assassination attempt by a group of masked subhuman thugs armed with automatic weapons. Her ‘crime’? Attending school in defiance of an ‘edict’ by fundamentalist Muslims against the education of women and advocating for the same.
There’s some good news in the midst of this tragedy–first and most importantly she’s been taken to England where she can get proper medical care and the prognosis for her full recovery is good. On a less immediate level, she’s become an internationally acclaimed heroine–and deservedly so–for bravely standing against Muslim fundamentalism. Despite a mealy mouth response from candidate Obama who called it a ‘tragedy’ (he can’t call it an ‘act of terror by a bunch of subhuman scumbags since it’s bad for his campaign) and a typically weak kneed reaction from the Pakistani government who won’t even mention her by name out of deference to these fundamentalist terrorists the rest of the world is celebrating her courage and condemning the cowardice and hatred that tried to silence her.
Malala is now under the care of doctors at Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital and they’re well experienced in the treatment of trauma cases. It has the world’s largest single-floor critical care unit for patients with gunshot wounds, burns, spinal damage and major head injuries. The hospital’s medical director, Dr. Dave Rosser, spoke to the media after she was admitted:
“Doctors…believe she has a chance of making a good recovery on every level.”
Unfortunately, one of the hospital’s biggest worries is security–they’re fearful of murderous fanatics trying to finish the job started by the terrorists in Pakistan. Ihsanullah Ihsan, chief spokesman for the Pakistani Taliban, says that she was target for generating “negative propaganda’ about Islam and that she is a “symbol of the infidels and obscenity”. This begs a question–since we know this guy’s name why is his head still attached to his body?
A 14 year old girl shouldn’t have to be concerned about Mulim fundamentalists trying to kill her. She and her family should be granted asylum in the United States or other civilized country where she can be free to pursue her education and advocacy.
