Call it ‘the thing that should not be’, a sign of the abomination or yet another inevitable descendant of the late Bob Crane but to the dismay of civilized people everywhere it actually exists. A brief clip of a sex tape featuring Terry Bollea, better known to the masses as former WWE/WCW champion Hulk Hogan, was posted on Gawker.com yesterday. And like any good pro wrestling plot device it has no shortage of soap opera elements that further the Hulkster’s real life ‘storyline’.
With today’s easy access to digital video recorders it’s no surprise that home made sex videos are in abundance and as a result there’s a cottage industry in sex tapes featuring celebrities from all levels of the food chain of fame. But a Hulk Hogan sex tape? The very words are enough to disgust most decent people. To his credit, it doesn’t appear that ‘The Hulkster’ knows that he’s being taped which begs another question that we really don’t want the answer to: who is sufficiently depraved to record a video of Hulk Hogan having sex?
But the plot thickens like Hulk’s ’48″ pythons’. The woman in the video appears to be the ex-wife of Hogan’s best friend, Tampa based DJ ‘Bubba The Love Sponge’. At press time there’s no word if this arrangement was known to Mr. Love Sponge or whether it’s going to seriously throw a monkey wrench into their friendship. Or was he ‘in’ on the coupling? Early in the video a man off camera tells the Hulkster and his woman to “Do your thing” before he exits stage right. There is some speculation that this is none other than Bubba The Love Sponge ‘ringing the bell’. Other than that the video isn’t particularly revelatory, though we do learn it was shot not far from the home base of Hulkamania–Hogan’s Clearwater, Florida home.
The existence of the tape was speculated on earlier this year which prompted this Nixonian statement from Hogan’s lawyer who didn’t confirm that it was legit but that if such a thing did exist it is “an outrageous invasion of privacy and breach of trust.” Now Hogan’s legal counsel is threatening a lawsuit against anyone showing the clip suggesting that they “will be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.” Given the way that these things usually play out there’s a good chance that more of the wretched footage will turn up and one can only hope that there won’t be a run in by Jim “The Ultimate Warrior’ Hellwig.
