Dev-Team Confirms again that They have found another (bootrom) exploit in iOS 4.1 as it’s released to the Public.

We were among the handful Internet Blogs who first reported that Dev-Team has found the exploit in just released iOS 4.1 and Perhaps have Jailbroken it already (Not verified yet) – However moment ago, Lead Member of Dev-Team MuscleNerd Tweeted (see below) that pod2g has found another exploit in the iOS 4.1 as it goes live.

” Crazy timing that @pod2g got latest exploit just as 4.1 went public (lots of work left…keep away from 4.1 for now!) ” – Tweet Link

It’s a low-level bootrom exploit and it’s very unlikely that Apple would simply fix it by releasing new firmware instead they would have to make changes to the iPhone 4 and 3GS and other iDevices hardware to fix this exploit. It still could take couple of weeks or more before you can get your hands on the latest Jailbreak Tool for iOS 4.1.

Having Said that, Our best advice is to Hold your Horses, Until there is final confirmation from the Dev-Team or another popular iPhone hacker iH8snOw that they have successfully Jailbroken iOS 4.1 and tested it internally. We will of course Keep you posted as more details become available to us.

All the predictions and rumors came true, iOS 4.1 is released on September 8 the exact date that we had predicted couple of days back., and is available for download on iTunes. If you have not been catching up below are some of the Prominent Features of iOS 4.1

High dynamic range (HDR) photos on iPhone 4

Support for TV programme rentals on iTunes

Ability to upload HD videos to YouTube and MobileMe over Wi-Fi on iPhone 4

Additional support for AVRCP-supported accessories, including next & previous track control

FaceTime calling directly from Favourites

Bug fixes, including:
- iPhone 4 proximity sensor performance
- iPhone 3G performance

And hasty Jailbreakers Hold your Horses!, Dev-Team officially has warned against the upgrade. If you rely on Jailbreak and Carrier Lock then you must stay away from this update at least until there is any official confirmation from any of the member of Dev-Team for the Jailbreak, Earlier it was rumored that iOS 4.1 has been successfully Jailbroken, However we yet have to verify the claim. Stay Tuned !

Report iOS 4.1 Already Jailbroken by Dev-Team member Comex

It is being reported by several Tech Blogs that Dev-Team (Comex) has successfully Jailbroken iOS 4.1 ahead of its rumored release on September 8th. The report was initially posted by a Tech Blog named ‘ Tracy & Matt ‘ mentioning:

” It is not even out yet, but the good people over at the iPhone Dev Team have managed to Jailbreak iOS 4.1. ”

This Jailbreak is achieved after Comex found two loopholes, who earlier released Jailbreakme.com a Web based user-land untethered Jailbreak for iOS 4.0 and 4.0.1. However we have yet to see the official confirmation either on Dev-Team Blog or the Twitter Accounts run by these Developers where they usually first post such information. We will of course keep you updated as more details become available.

A Quick Step by Step Guide to Jailbreak PS 3 – Fat and Slim

The well awaited Jailbreak / Mod for hacking the PS3 has finally been made public, and as reported earlier, you can now backup your PS3 games and then run them from the PS3 HDD (HardDisk), without having to put the BluRay disc into the tray. Of course this means its time to invest in a good HDD or so, because you soon will be at a loss for disk space.

Here is how the thing goes down:

Ingredients:

A PS3, slim or fat, running any firmware 3.4.1 or above

PS Jailbreak USB Modchip (Available from ChipSpain or OzModChip)

A USB pen drive, with FAT32 with its “Backup Manager” file available from: Here

An original BluRay disc of PS3 game which you would love to backup!

Instructions:

1) Power off your console making sure there is no disc in its disc tray.

Note: PS3 SLIM: Remove the Power Chord before plugging in the USB

PS3 FAT: Turn off power switch found at the back of the console

2) Plug the USB jailbreak device and Power ON the console and just as soon (immediately) press the “Eject” button. If done correctly, the console should show two LEDs turned on

Once after that, the USB LED should turn green (see below pic). This will indicate that you are good to go as the PS Jailbreak has been successfully loaded onto the PS3 console.

Note: If the LED turns Red, it just means when the Power and Eject sequence wasn’t performed properly. Try again

3) Wait for the console to boot, once done plug-in the external USB storage device (pen drive or HDD) which has the “Backup Manager” setup to the console’s USB port. We downloaded the “Backup Manager” in the pre-requisite stage of this How-To Guides

4) Open the “Game Menu” and choose the option that says: “Install Package Files” and then choose “manager.pkg”.

The above step will install the “Backup Manager”, that will be responsible for any other task performed in the future on the hacked PS3.

5) Without hesitation, insert the genuine BluRay PS3 game into the disc tray and let it slide inside. Once done, Press “O” on the joystick and you will be prompted as to where to backup the inserted game. Options will be of internal HDD or external HDD – choose on your preference

Loading From Backup:

Just insert a fake DVD to fake the loading process and dumb the PS3 console. Run the “Backup Manager” in the “Games Menu”. Press “X” to play the selected backup game.

Note: For the mean time, you will have to keep the PS Jailbreak USB attached to the console to run backup games.

Enjoy some hardcore gaming fellow geeks!

YouTube today, yet again, revolutionizes Internet by launching their new and fresh Movie category. To make this new feature a blasting success, YouTube gathered around 400 full-length films and posted it in the category for your pleasures.

This move comes after Google struck deals with major U.S studies such as Lionsgate, MGM and Sony Pictures, to name a few. The genre is varied, including Bollywood flicks, Documentary & Biographies, Action and Adventure, Comedy, Horror, Mystery, Drama and the ever so popular Animations & Cartoons.

The YouTube head of video partnership Donag O’Malley told The Guardian:

“This is one of many efforts to ensure that people can find all the different kinds of video they want to see, from bedroom vlogs and citizen journalism reports to full-length films and TV shows”

In my opinion, this new feature is revolutionary because people will not have to go to random websites, or even have to resort to piracy to watch their favorite movies or so!. With this, YouTube is surely to catch a huge chunk of web traffic. I myself am going to watch some movies on it today, not only because they are free but because they are being offered to me at a site I know is reputed and not only that, but some movies are available in 720p also!!.

What do you people think of this new feature?

Some 10 years from now, hacking was a small business and there was not much developing in that field. However now, with so many people on the Internet giving away their personal and private details for E-commerce or something, hacking has become really a menace. While a person cannot leave his details disclosed to someone strange, he also cannot stop giving away the details, as he may be needing it for something. For example:

1) A person may be using his Credit Card #, house address, and telephone number for the purpose of Internet shopping. He may be using it to buy something from online E-stores, such as: books, gifts, hardware, software, etc and having it shipped to him.

The possibilities are endless, so we over @ maboot.com will help our readers stay secure from such misfortunate incidents by giving our readers some tips, if used wisely, will keep them secure from hackers, forgers and all other such evil things lurking on the Internet.

1. The password:

This is by far the most important rule in keeping one self’s identity and details hidden. Whenever a person is required to enter a password, he is bound to enter a password that is known only to him and is difficult for anyone else to figure out. The very 1st rule in keeping passwords:

Do not keep your name, birth date, or someone very close or important as your password.

Well, it isn’t very hard if you keep your name as your password. So if your account is for example: adam_858@hotmail.com and if you keep your password adam, or even adam123, that is pretty insecure. Or should I say, barely secure!. Keeping birth dates is also not sensible because there may be some sites on which you entered the birth date, and the hacker may know of it in some cases.

Always try and use difficult yet easy to remember passwords. Rule of the password book:

Use a mixture of both: CAPITAL and small letters, and also use numbers and symbols in them if possible

Now let’s take an example, with the strengths of passwords:

Adam123 (Very Weak)

AdAm (Weak)

L1nkAg3 (Strong)

@Adam_L1nKage (Very Strong)

TheLobbyhunter5437 (Very Strong)

The 2nd last password is very strong since it uses a combination of all the things required for a strong and secure password. Also, sometimes the strength of the password is dependent on the length of the password along with those rules (Capital, letters, symbols, etc) (as seen with the last password).

Tip: Keep your password strong, but EASY at all times!

2. Refrain from going on Strange Sites

Always refrain from going to unwanted sites. Surely, there is a pleasure in Internet web surfing but going to sites that are actually blacklisted by Google, or have a weird theme, name or ask for something in return for something actually not possible, are sites that will surely SCAM you at anytime.

Not only is there a chance of SCAM, but it is possible that the site may transmit some Trojan or virus (see 7th tip) to your PC, putting all your details at risk.

So, it is always better to go to websites that have a legit certificate or are constantly talked about over the Internet, an example:

Better to go to amazon.com than a site named wholesaleWarez.com

It is no brainer that anything with a “warez” in it, is quite suspicious as Warez has a nature of sending something very very lethal i.e.: a worm into your PC, rendering your HDD (Hard Disk) unusable forever!

3. Using an alternate email address:

Try and always use an alternate email for websites which you would never go to, expect that once or twice. For example:

You find a download link to your favorite music video, which by chance is not available on any other website. Also, to see the download link, you need to join the website. Well, rather than using your personal email account, use an SECOND email address.

The below website provides a 10 minute email, so you can just use this and not put jeopardize your personal email account

http://10minutemail.com/

But HEY, remember the 2nd Tip.

4. The importance of a HTTPS “link address”

For people who are giving away credit card details over the Internet, for the purpose of buying or selling, I recommend that you first look at the site’s address where you enter the credit card details. There are many sites that have either a:

http address or

an https address

The character (s) at the end of http, signifies for a secure connection. These sites are usually and mostly trusted.

Also remember, there may be sites that DO NOT have a https link address, but will be secure. It simply depends on the sites reputation. However, if the site is unknown to you, and yet has a https address, than be assured that the site is secured in keeping your credit card details “secure” to themselves.

5. Verified Paypal / Visa, etc website

Another thing to keep a lookout for, when dealing with credit card information is: if the site is secure or not!. There are many websites out there which are PayPal verified, meaning that the people over at PayPal have themselves checked the authenticity of the website and have given them the seal of approval, proving to the users that the site is neither a fraud or SCAM.

There is also a seal of “verified” for VISA and other such cards. Always look at the footer of the website, or at the bottom of the page where the credit card information is being required.

The seal of approval is usually put at such places, otherwise, look at their FAQ’s (Frequently Asked Questions) and see if you can find some information on their authenticity.

6. Keeping Details To Required Level:

This is quite an easy thing to do, but is not always applicable to each and every website. When registering on some website, you are required to fill a web form. The web form usually asks for some important stuff such as:

Email

Home Address

Country

Etc

There are some web forms, which also ask for your telephone # and even credit card number at the very beginning of the registration. I would recommend only filling in information which is required: usually denoted with an asterisk (*) next to, or before them. This way, you neither give away too much information, nor are you giving too less. It is kept only to the amount of information required for you to become a member of the site, and access its content (if hidden to members only).

7. Check your PC constantly

Last but not least, always keep your PC under check. Have some virus / Trojan scans once in a week, or once a month to make sure that is no pesky bug inside your PC, secretly transmitting your personal data to someone somewhere else.

These bugs usually infiltrate your PC through some download or software and hide deep inside your hard disk memory. When the person enters some data into some web form (even secure ones), the bug transmits this data to its original infiltrator.

The data may be used against you causing a financial damage, or a breach in your personal data offline / online.

We hope these tips will help you browse the Internet, on a much safer level with every precaution taken, properly, you should hopefully never ever have to worry about your personal data being peeked on.

Happy Web Surfing!

Scheduling is something that is not only important sometimes, but also very helpful. Every person thinks of the ability to time their mails without their presence required. With this, a person could time an email for someone’s birthday accurately, maybe send someone his Anniversary greetings and so on, and so forth.

Unfortunately, most of the email providers don’t support this feature and in the end, you either end up sending the mail yourself or you end up using some third-party software to assist you. But HEY! That is such a hassle to go through.

Today, I will tell you how to send scheduled emails right from your Gmail account, without you being physically present there to press that “Send” button.

Gmail makes use of this amazing little widget, called Boomerang. Boomerang for Gmail allows the user to send emails at a specific date or time and by just a few easy clicks, he can have the mail scheduled, and in an instant have it re-scheduled if needed so. Not only this, but the person can also schedule when to get the emails and when not to!

Also, for those people who are actually worried about personal security, and private content. Well here is a context served by Boomerang to make those people at ease:

Like most other Gmail plugins, we need access to the full email data to be able to move and send messages. In our queries, we only store the headers of the message (subject, sender, time) so that we can uniquely ID the message you want to schedule. We don’t store any message text.

Boomerang is currently in the Beta stages as an add-on or extension, for the popular browsers Firefox and Chrome. For now, you will need to register to use their abilities, it’s like: first come, first serve or something alike. It will no doubt launch globally very soon enough!

Register here

Sometimes, a person is browsing and remembers he was looking at something a few minutes ago and just doesn’t seem to remember its name. Well, here are is a great tip to undo the address and tabs to browse through all your recent visits (history) and look through them, yet again.

To undo the address, click on your address bar and hit the undo shortcut (Ctrl + Z/ Cmd + Z) to move through all your recent history via keyboard and find the site which you were on, some time back. This is considered to be a lightweight version of the Undo Tab features (see below) as this only browses through the address, and does not open the whole website again.

To open full fledge websites which you visited in that particular period of time, you can use the Undo Tab feature. To re-open closed tabs again, in browsers like Firefox, Chrome and Opera hit the Ctrl + Shift + T shortcut (Cmd + Shift +T). This method is considered a bit heavy since it actually opens all the tabs until you actually reach the tab you need and then you can just close off all the other un-necessary tabs.
