You’d think most people have seen enough–or at least heard enough–about the recently released Hulk Hogan sex tape. That apparently isn’t the case as the grainy black and white video featuring the former WWE/WCW champion continues to dominate chatter online. One adult oriented website is willing to bank on the fact that people want to see even more of the footage.
Adult oriented website Sex.com has publicly offered ‘The Hulkster’ a blank check for the rights to the video clip. They’ve written a highly complimentary ‘public letter’ to Hogan in which they claim to have an ‘open checkbook’ for rights to serve the video on their website. And they, uh, stroke his ego for good measure:
“While this may be an embarrassing ordeal for you to go through right now, it doesn’t need to be … you are ‘bigger’ than Andre the Giant where it matters.”
In all seriousness, Hulk may be better off trying to monetize the situation since the notion of ‘lost integrity’ is highly dubious in his case. There’s no shortage of websites that will stream the video with Hogan getting nothing so if it’s going to go public he might as well benefit. At this point, no response from Hogan regarding the website’s offer.
Hogan may be looking to get paid in a different way–he’s reportedly preparing legal action against whomever leaked the tape. The problem with that is that he’s got to figure out who it is. His lawyer has mentioned Gawker, the website which first posted clips and an account of the video but they’ve got plenty of first amendment related defenses at their disposal. Anyway, here’s what Hogan’s attorney David R. Houston had to say:
“The tape was made secretly without Hulk’s knowledge or permission. We are going to do everything in our power to figure out who did it. Anyone displaying the tape will be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.”
Given the nature of the video itself the ‘leaker’ may be someone connected with his best friend, shock radio jock Bubba the Love Sponge. Heather Clem, the girl in the video, is Bubba’s ex-wife and there’s speculation that Bubba’s voice can be heard off camera at the start of the video. The whole sordid affair is likely to get much uglier before it’s over.
